ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Employee must have regular attendance/punctuality, be able to cooperate with others, and be completely honest. Other assigned duties include:
1. Reviewing and correcting medication orders.
2. Correct entries of medication orders.
3. Regular and on-going audits of resident medication records.
4. Filling insulin syringes.
5. Conducting illness and injury assessments on residents and staff as necessary.
6. Assuring facility compliance with licensure requirements.
7. Maintaining communication between all parties involved with residents (i.e., doctors, pharmacies, family members, hospice, home care, etc).
8. Assuring that resident medications are legal, safe, and accurate.
9. Educating staff on various issues.
10. Creating, reviewing, and revising policies.
11. Emergency first aid, wound care as required.
12. Checking Tuberculosis vaccinations.
13. Preparing medication sheets for physicians prior to doctor appointments.
14. Creating Medication Administration Records for newly admitted residents.
15. Writing assessments and/or referrals for hospice and home care.
16. Participate in meetings as required.
17. Provide initial and on-going training to the Health Care Assistant. Reporting performance issues to Health Care Assistant’s direct supervisor.
18. Maintain appropriate database and records for residents on the computer.
19. Providing direct supervision of the Health Care Assistant, including communicating performance expectations, conducting performance reviews in a timely manner, providing discipline, recognition, and rewards as appropriate.
20. Other duties as assigned.
