David Livingston and Chris Pipkin
Hometown Heroes for
May 2008
Hilltop Hometown Heroes are people who, through participation, volunteerism or working for one of Hilltop’s 21 programs have made a significant difference in their own life or in the lives of others. This month we are proud to honor Chris Pipkin with the Bureau of Land Management and David Livingston with Hilltop’s Experiential Learning Project for their combined service to our community.
Hilltop’s Experiential Learning Program and the Bureau of Land Management first partnered in 2002; since then, the programs have continued to focus on providing at-risk youth with valuable educational opportunities through trail building on public lands. Today, Hilltop’s Experiential Learning Project teaches quarterly classes at The Opportunity Center School Program where youth not only build Bureau of Land Management trails, but learn problem solving, planning, and take education outdoors! Youth participating in the program enjoy the challenge of building and maintaining trails for the community’s enjoyment. For the past 6 years, Hilltop’s Experiential Learning Project has provided 3,700 hours of trail building to the BLM.
We congratulate Chris and David’s dedication to providing young people with meaningful and rewarding opportunities to better our community!
