The ATU programs are an innovative collaboration between Hilltop and Colorado West Mental Health Center to serve children and youth in need of short-term crisis stabilization. With the impetus of decreasing the need for psychiatric hospitalization, this program has evolved into two very distinct residential alternatives, the Pediatric Unit which serves children ages 4-12, and the Adolescent Unit for youth ages 12-18. The units, which are modified apartments on a residential campus, provide a safe, highly supervised and supportive environment that facilitates intensive, individualized, and strengths-based therapeutic service delivery. Though designed to serve Mesa County, the ATU receives and accepts referrals from across the State.
