![]() Making a lasting, positive impact on adolescents for pregnancy prevention The Get Real program provides comprehensive confidence building and pregnancy prevention services to high-risk youth. Services include home visits, individual case management, weekly group meetings, and individual sessions. Improving the communication and respect between the participant and their parents/caregivers builds stronger families within our community.
Get Real's focus seeks to enhance young people's decision-making skills within the context of today's difficult personal decisions. The program has been very effective in developing the skills youth need to make tough choices. Get Real's services are free to all youth who qualify for Medicaid benefits. There are limited amount of grant slots for those that qualify. Case managers meet individually with youth and their families to develop a plan that will work for the individual participant. Weekly groups are held after school hours so they do not interfere with educational programs. Get Real is a year-round program with a summer schedule that provides youth with a wide variety of recreational activities throughout the summer. Recreational outings are planned to give youth opportunity to practice their newly learned skills. For most outings, the program provides transportation and a snack. Get Real uses a holistic approach to assist adolescents and their families in attaining goals by developing, providing, and coordinating services with other agencies.
