A Safe Place to Land: Housing and Support for Young Adults
Connections, formerly Karis, are Hilltop programs that support young adults who are in need of resource navigation to access: housing stability, employment, public benefits, physical and mental health services, inclusivity, life skills, education, and relationship building with trusted adults.
Connections is:
- Street Outreach and Drop-in Center: Support for youth and yound adults ages 13-24 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our Drop-in Center offers access to showers, laundry, clothing, and one-on-one navigation support, including help with job searches and applying for benefits like SNAP and Medicaid.
- The House: A five-bed emergency shelter for individuals 18-22, offering a safe, supportive space and shelter for 21 days.
- Transitional Living Program (TLP): Housing and transitional coaching support for youth and yount adults aging out of the foster care system and/or exiting from the Department of Youth Services. TLP offers up to 18 months of shared housing for those who are employed or enrolled in school, including GED or college programs. TLP focuses on building life skills and supporting participants in reaching their personal goals.
- Laurel House: A permanent supportive housing program with 34 one-bedroom apartments, offering independent living along with personalized navigation and support services.
- Bonnie House: A five-bed permanent supportive housing program for young adults ages 18-24, offering communal living and individualized navigation support.
