Make an eligible contribution.

Make a qualifying contribution of at least $100 to an approved Hilltop homelessness-related project.

Provide the information required for HCTC.

Hilltop will need the taxpayer information required by the Colorado HCTC program in order to process the contribution for a tax credit certificate.

Receive your tax credit certificate.

For an eligible contribution, a tax credit certificate is issued to substantiate the credit.

Claim the credit on your Colorado tax return.

The certificate information is used when claiming the Homeless Contribution Tax Credit on the applicable Colorado income tax return.

Potential Colorado Tax Credit

Your contribution may qualify for a state income tax credit.

Under Colorado's HCTC program, qualifying contributions generally receive a credit equal to 25% of the eligible contribution for non-rural projects or 30% for qualifying rural projects.

The percentage applicable to a particular Hilltop project depends on that project's HCTC certification. Hilltop can confirm the applicable credit when you contact our team.

Information We Need

Some taxpayer information is required to issue the certificate.

Colorado requires identifying information so the tax credit certificate can be associated with the taxpayer making the qualifying contribution.

This information is used in connection with HCTC processing and taxpayer identification.

Taxpayer identification requirements

Individual taxpayer

Last four digits of the taxpayer's Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

Business taxpayer

Full nine-digit Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), when applicable.

Additional information

Hilltop may also need your name as it appears on your tax return, mailing address, and contact information in order to process and deliver the certificate.
